Helping You Weather the Storm
Not many of us know what they are required to do in case a loved one passes away. Mount Royal Cemetery and Funeral Complex offers you a helping hand during such an event, by providing you with judicious advice and action steps to take if you find yourself in this situation. It is important to know that it is normal to feel lost, however, here is what needs to be done when a loved one passes.
In the Event of a Death
Depending on where you are and where the death has occurred, the actions to be taken can be different. Please refer to the steps below:
At Home
Call the Emergency Services (911) and inform them of the death.
Urgence Santé will arrive at the location.
An Attestation of Death will be prepared which will need to be signed by a doctor
A doctor might also come to the house to sign the attestation.
Call us to arrange the transport of your loved one.
At a Hospital or Institution
If your loved one dies in a hospital or an institution, contact us at the earliest to arrange all the authorizations for transportation of the deceased to our funeral complex, after the Attestation of Death is signed.

Meeting With Our Funeral Directors
Once your loved one has been transported to our funeral complex, our funeral counselors will discuss all the funeral and burial details with you, ensuring you receive a compassionate, kind and polite service. We will be able to assist you in navigating through all the arrangements necessary, based on your specific needs. During this meeting, our counselors will require the following documents and pieces of information in order to produce the Declaration of Death:
Health Insurance Number (card, if available)
 Social Insurance Number
 Driver's license number
 Place of birth
 Parents' names
Place of marriage or civil union
Date of marriage or civil union
Date of death of spouse, divorce date or dissolution of civil union
Clothes of the deceased (if necessary)
A photo of the deceased (if needed)

Funeral Expenses
Our funeral director will ask, at the end of the 2 hour meeting, to provide a credit card number for the completion of the application for the Death Certificate or of a Copy of Act from the government. The funeral expenses can be paid by Visa, Mastercard, cheque or cash. Should you have any questions or require more information before the meeting, we will be happy to assist you, so feel free to call us.
